The start of a longgggg easter

The start of a long boring easter began today with a trip to John Lennon Airport to drop my girlfriend Amy off, she was going home to Ireland for easter.

I am absolutely devastated to see her go. Wish I could of gone with her for the whole holiday.

Two whole weeks without her are going to be longgggg and boring.
I should hopefully be taking a trip over to Ireland for her cousins 21st birthday after two weeks, which will be great and I actually can't wait!

Yellow Submarine outside John Lennon Airport

We got a taxi to the airport which seemed to be the fastest half hour of my life. Its funny how the time seems to pass slower when you are bored and want it to hurry up. Much like the next two following weeks which will crawl!

It had been snowing for the past two days and so we checked her flight wasn't delayed, which sadly, it wasn't so I walked her to the departures gate. This was it, the moment I had been dreading for days, I had to let her go back to the land of leprechauns and Guinness.

I hopped on a bus outside the airport that drove into Liverpool and went to McDonalds for a burger to cheer me up. I had never taken advantage of the student deal in McDonalds of a free cheeseburger or McFlurry with any meal so decided to take up the opportunity.

I sat down with my deluxe quarter pounder with bacon meal and free cheese burger and peeled my monopoly stickers from my chips, burger and drink... WOO! free apple pie and fruit bag.

My friend Matt who I live with, and lived with last year, called and met me in McDonalds, we went for a pint and chilled out in town most of the day.

I got home later on and was surprised by an easter egg in my cupboard! Amy had managed to sneak in before we left. Kit Kat Peanut Butter. My favourite chocolate bar ever. What a babe.

Tasty Kit Kat egg with peanut butter white chocolate and milk Kit Kat Chunkys!

Until I head over to Ireland I have to crack on with university work for my upcoming exams.

My Astrophysics module is a pain but hopefully shouldn't be too bad to learn with a little work into telescope optics and imaging.

The second maths module of the year is a killer with one of the most boring, monotone and quiet lecturers I've had in my life making it impossible to concentrate and learn from them..

My module on waves is another one needing work with having missed a few lectures which is terrible.. Its important I do well in waves as the head of first year physics is the lecturer for it. He decides if you fail an exam whether or not you get to resit and retry for the module.

Failing a module also means you could fail the year and may need to resit.
Due to being a year behind by doing a foundation year already I can not afford to resit. The extra money needed would also be a killer due to probably pushing debts up by £6000.. Not something I want looming over me.

So with that work load, its going to be a busy time. Two lab reports to do by tomorrow, one on the attenuation of gamma rays and the other based of the moments of inertia of different shaped objects.

I also have a check up at the dentist coming up Monday, helping my mum and step dad clear a house on Tuesday and my sisters birthday being Wednesday too.

Somehow need to fit going to the gym into the week too as I haven't been in a long time and need to sort myself out!

Hopefully this first week will go relatively quickly with keeping busy and travelling backwards and forwards between my mums, dads and my flat in Liverpool.

Just going to have to concentrate on going to Ireland to get me through the work and weeks!

University Life My Official First Year!

So after finishing my foundation year in Carmel college in St Helens with a pretty high average of 92% across  my exams, I finally reached my official first year at the University of Liverpool to study a degree in Physics.

I've already had my first eventful semester and as always, have met some incredible people, one of which includes my amazing flatmate and now also girlfriend Amy!

Monday night in the Raz one of Liverpools popular nights among students
First semester seemed to fly by and with juggling my bar job with Uni, even though it just being first year which most people seem to take with the laid back approach, I felt highly under pressure when it came to the January exam period.

With barely missing my grades to reach university and having to do the foundation year, it was like a relaxation and party year in which I had no worries about passing. I only needed to average 40% in the foundation exams to get to university and I pulled of 92%.. so it was almost as if I had a year free from the struggle of learning and being tested on new information!

I handed in my resignation for the bar I worked in effective the week after new years to buckle down and concentrate on exams. The week of new years being a very busy one with having to work new years eve then heading over to Ireland to visit Amy on the 2nd of January and coming back on the 4th of january to my final shift at Revolution on the 5th.

Chilling on a mini beach in Clough, Northern Ireland

A final shift at which I was cling filmed to a post... fed chilli vodka... and soaked in champagne.... Everyone had so much fun at that bar, so sad to leave, but university has to come before anything else!

The only picture I could find anywhere of my Suffering!

I had never felt so unprepared for exams in my entire life and these exams were going to be, and easily were, the hardest exams I have ever sat in my life. I felt pressured when I only had 3 exams, some people had 9 or even 10.. I would have gone absolutely insane..

The worst part of January exam time for me is the fact my birthday is smack bang in the middle of exams EVERY year, the 18th of January always seems to be placed right in the middle of a busy and horrible exam timetable.

It made turning 20 feel that little more worse, the fact I'm not a teenager any more and the fact I have reverted to calling myself twenteen to make myself feel better is horrible.

but results day has been and gone and it seems my worries of passing were for no reason, I passed each of my exams and have learnt from my first semester.

Working harder for semester 2 and all the knew modules has to be done since I no longer have a job and therefore money to distract me from studying!

Plus the fact that one of my modules is on Einstein's General relativity, it may need some work putting into it to make sure I know what's going on!

Cant believe how good this year has been already! Hopefully it continues like this

What a year. part 1.

This is the first post i've put up in a long long time.
Me on the left taken in Malia with the lads in June. a crazy, crazy holiday that was 1000 times more mental than Sunny Beach Bulgaria last year!

Since the last post so many things have happened theres nowhere near enough room in a single post.

I went from digital to retro and took most of my blogging from public to private in the form of Moleskine journals, something I seem to manage to keep up rather than just attempting to poke at like this online blogging.. even though I spend most of my awake time in front of a computer screen!

The second term of University was insane. Only followed by a crazy few weeks with my friends from home at easter and then that followed by my final term in my first year of University!

I am now £500 overdrawn in the bank, but in return had the best time of my life with enough memories to fill a library. The end of first year means saying goodbye to Carnatic Halls in Liverpool. The place i've grown to call my home over the year. With this means saying goodbye to everyone I have lived with too for a while.

C corridor 2011/2012 Carnatic Halls. I love you guys so much.
Student fest Liverpool. Such an insane night out in town.
Partying with some halls friends.
Student organised casino. The same night one of my close friends became a father to a little girl Ellie.
The night The Magnet had 80p drinks, 80p... we were slaughtered.
St Patricks Day looking like fools. That was just an extremely brief summary of the 2nd term at Uni, words cant even describe how amazing its been. Coming home and being with friends for easter and hearing all their experiences and having more crazy parties was just as amazing.
Outside one of Liverpools cathedrals.
visiting Alton Towers with the guys and girls back home. Managed to cram so much into so little time over easter with everyone. was great to see everyone again, being able to catch up and share experiences is something unique.
The opening of Central Perk Cafe in Liverpool.
managed another Alton Towers trip with uni a few weeks later!
more new friends and an underground rave in Liverpool's Shipping Forecast. Still one of my favourite places in Liverpool!
BBQ'ing with a friend from home who's in the same uni as me living just down the road from where I was :)
Just us being ninja turtles for a fancy dress birthday party :)
quite a few people showed up!
Loving the sun shine last few weeks of Uni.. had SOOO many BBQ's and drank so much beer it was crazy! around exam time too! scary stuff
Bennies Birthday! Big meal down at the albert docks with a ton of people, you can just see the Liver building poking up in the background.
With Ellen at the Smirnoff Party in Medication
see you next year guys, I'm going to miss you :) x

The second term of University begins!

Happy New Years everyone, hope you all had a great holiday time and that 2012 is treating you well!

I am back at university after a month break for Christmas which was... to say the least ... crazy.

The run up to the holidays was none stop parties and nights out with either the rowing team, my university halls or friends from college! madness.

This is one of the tame nights out for one of the girls in our corridors birthday.
We went to Cafe Rouge in Liverpool One, great place!

It was amazing to see all my friends back at home, share and listen to each others stories from their universities across the country. Its surprising how much you can do in three months and how many people you can meet. Our first night back we got rather drunk..

Christmas day consisted of the standard dinner and family gathering which was nice as I also hadn't seen them in three months properly. After dinner I called my friends and we went to the local pub. We swiftly left as there was a huge bar fight.. glasses being smashed.. girls on top of each other on the floor.. guys swinging wildly at each other.. so the police charged in and we made our escape and went home!

We had no plans for new years until the day before new years eve, so it was pretty spontaneous.. but we all ended up going to a friends house party.. a house party than has many bad pictures and should not have been posted on facebook... all in all it was a brilliant night and the best way to start 2012, made even better by the fact it was spent with my closest friends.

The holidays swiftly came to an end and we all made our way back to our respective universities. It felt so strange to be going back into University halls.. spending a month living with family and quiet was nice. Coming back to a corridor of 20 people the same age as you in a building with 230 others of the same age is a little different! It took a day or two but I managed to settle in a lot quicker than I thought I would.

This was the start of exams.

Everybody came back and decided to get stuck into some revision. It was quite quiet for the first week due to peoples panic at the fact they had a month to revise and had done none.

Exams finish on the 27th for the entire university although most, like myself, are already finished. My last exam was monday and so I have been out every night. Monday night we went to The Blue Angel or as students call it... The Raz

The Raz as a place is, im going to be honest... terrible.. Its old .. its smelly.. its overcrowded. It costs £1.50 to get in and then for a pint of beer.. 90 pence.. It is crazy cheap! You go downstairs to where the DJ is set up and you feel like you have walked into a bat cave.. the horrible sweaty smell hits you and if you come late enough the floor will be covered in what has got to be known as "Raz Juice"... this disgusting juice will ruin any item of clothing/ pair of shoes as anything it touches just turns brown. Once it fills up the Raz is fantastic, you cant beat the student atmosphere thats created down there. If you are a student in Liverpool on a monday night.. the raz is the only place to be!

Last night three of us went to Medication. Now.. Medication is probably the biggest and best student night in the whole of Liverpool.
It costs £6 for entry but it is worth every penny.
The place is HUGE. there is about 3000 students in there and its the best place to meet people, drinks are cheap and the atmosphere in the place is unreal. There is 3 main rooms in the place, The house/electro room, Chart room and R&B room.
http://www.medication.co.uk/
just take a look at some of the pictures on the website and you will instantly see how good the place is!
Probably the best night out I have had since being back in Liverpool!

That leads me to today! Hungover, blogging, chatting to people across the world on skype and waiting to go get dinner!

The University Life!

Wow.

This is the only way I can even attempt to describe the life I am now leading.

It is crazy.

Parties all the time, great music, great people, cheap drinks, amazing city. There is almost no time to sleep with the amount of things to do here in Liverpool.

A few weeks ago I paid a visit to my friends in Nottingham and Derby. That was a brilliant weekend. I went to a club in Derby called The Blue Note which was a good night out with my friend and his university corridor. It seems odd to know people all over the country who now all have a complete new set of friends and have settled into new areas, when all but a month or two ago you were all sitting in a room watching films talking about how strange it will be to not be at home. The day after I was in Derby I went to Nottingham to go and see another friend and also to go and see Nero playing in Rock City Nottingham. Again this was an amazing night opened up by Skream who played some crazy dubstep mixes and got the crowd going wild.

Last week I went to see Ben Ufo & Blawan playing in The Shipping Forecast which is an amazing club tucked in the heart of your classic mainstream clubs. It has a really nice bar upstairs with a really chilled out crowd. You go down the stone staircase to the area where all the main DJs play and you enter a whole new world. This is not your standard club. The basement is only a small room but combined with the sound system they have set up down there it is simply amazing. The show was fantastic with quite a housey sounding set by Ben Ufo, everyone in the crowd went crazy for it.

The day after Ben Ufo & Blawan I went to see Modeselektor, 2manydj's and D/R/U/G/S in a place called The Masque. That night was crazy. The bass just seemed to get louder and louder and the crowd crazier and crazier for the music.

I had never heard of Modeselektor till the night and they were a LOT different to what I was expecting. They played before 2manydj's and it was probably one of the strangest sets I have seen. The amount of strobe light mixed with the borderline demonic sounds that were being thrown out of their speakers made it a really trippy experience.

2manydj's followed this odd but brilliant set with some crazy songs and remixes. If you ever have the chance to go and see them. DO IT. They will blow your mind. There was a crazy amount of people crammed into the same room, all bouncing.

Tonight I am going to see Erol ALkan, Hudson Mohawke, Dj Yoda, Lvis1990 and CantMixWontMixShdntMixDontMix with a few friends from the college I am currently in, there would be more but one has decided to go see friends in Leeds and the other has gone to see his girlfriend in Glasgow! another example of how spread across the country everyone is! Hopefully tonight will be as good as the others.

The only problem I have with going out tonight is that I am going rowing tomorrow with the university rowing team! Another thing I have done since I arrived!

Already I have had a few social nights with the team and they have been brilliant. Every sports team goes out on AU (Athletics Union) night dressed in a different fancy dress! The rowing teams fancy dress was Vikings this time around

The night was insane. By the end of it there were viking hats and axes ALL over the club we all went to and a mess of very, very drunk athletes everywhere. Probably one of the best nights out in Liverpool I have had so far!

The next social was cocktail night, this started at an exclusive gentlemans club hidden away in the main shopping area of Liverpool! I thought I knew the city like the back of my hand.. the shopping areas anyway... but it turns out this place had managed to go unseen until now! It was a rather posh place with huge painting on the walls, a massive private library and a lot of history.

The night moved on and we went to the tequila bar (Cava) and then hit the clubs. The tequila bar being one of my favourite places in liverpool due to it having a ton of diffrent tequila flavours all only £1 a shot! a good start to any crazy night out.

So thats a VERY brief summary of the past week or so in university. Hopefully with many more crazy stories to come!

Summer 2011.

Ok so I said I would be back soon and ... honestly .. forgot about blogging.. which I am really sorry about.

This summer has been stupidly good and I have managed to cram sooooo much in. Bulgaria was insane with the lads.

The sheer amount of parties and get together's I have been to is crazy and they have all been amazing.

I am currently at the end of my University freshers week having gained a place on a course at the University of Liverpool. Going to miss everyone whos spread themselves across the country sadly! but hey its only for a few weeks till xmas when we will all be reunited and have a ton of stories to tell!

This is only a brief one due to the fact that I am blasting some crazy house music preparing to get on it majorly and head into town with my uni halls corridor.

Sorry for the lack of posts on the past few months. If I still have any followers at all.... please leave me a comment! have missed you guys! :)

The Social Network!

Its been out for a good while and my friend got it on blu ray and invited me over today.

So after our revision sessions in school we decided to go round and watch it, and I have to say it was a lot better than I thought it would be!

The idea of facebook or thefacebook as it was originally called was such a simple one but was massive.

It still seems odd to me though that it managed to beat the giant at the time of Myspace but I think it was to do with, as described in the film, exclusive side of facebook.

Originally it was only intended for students at Harvard University and then rapidly expanded to universities across the globe. The story of its creation and the controversy behind the idea supposedly being stolen from some other Harvard students makes it all the better for the film which has been directed well in my opinion.

It makes you think how a simple idea can generate so much money and power so quickly, obviously I dont know any coding or databasing and and couldnt do it myself but the idea of a social network site seems so simple.

Overall though I was pretty impressed with the film and think it is worth a watch!
Sorry for the lack of posts I'm in my exams and really shouldnt be on here! but hey, I have just come back from this weeks pub quiz .. so why not hey!..

Last Day Of School !

So its that time of year when the final day of school has come around! Today consisted of being late for lessons... playing twister in a library .... and annoying the hell out of people.... I have just come straight from the pub! its now 19:40 and I have been drinking since 13:00... so yes I am pretty drunk!

The teachers in my school thought it would be a good idea to follow us all to the pub and so we all ended up getting a round off out legendary teachers!

One of our mates tried to down 3 pints of guiness in 25 seconds....

he managed 2 and a half in about 10 seconds! .... seriously difficult.....

the other half of the pint was quickly thrown onto the table while he stumbled off to throw up the 2 and a half he had just downed plus his lunch......

The spelling mistakes in this post have hopefully been kept to a minimum! the fact I am also eating omlette and chips from the chippy doesnt help!

If you have left school, what was your last day like?? have any crazy things happen?

First two exams over!

So after a hard night of revision... which I didnt really do much of!

I kicked off the start of the exams this morning by sitting 2 of my 12 to be taken over the next month, most people complain about sitting 2 or 3 exams... but hey what can you do!

I am pretty happy todays exams, they both didnt seem as bad as I thought they would be

Its the final push to get into university at the start of the new school year and so its vital I do well in all of these exams.

So now I can just kick back and chill out for a week or two until the next one!

I am back!

So yeah I only just realised I had a blogger after attempting to log in after browsing random blogs!

Thought I would use it for the reason I intended to .... two years ago... and blog!

But at the moment with it being the night before two of the most important exams of my life.... my A levels .... I really think I should keep it short and sweet!

I have two exams at 9 am in the morning and so have to be confined to a small room for three hours. not fun.

But hey after tomorrow it will be 2 of 12 exams completed!
